Tonight’s Episcopal School of Dallas and Greenhill football games in Houston were postponed because of Tropical Depression Imelda, athletic department officials for both schools said.

ESD was scheduled to play at Bellaire Episcopal, and Greenhill was scheduled to play at Houston Christian. Both are Southwest Preparatory Conference games that affect which teams advance to postseason play.

Greenhill coach Casey Selfridge said in an email that his team’s game has been rescheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday, “unless something changes.”

ESD is still working to reschedule its game, but it is not planning to play Saturday.

As of 4 p.m. Thursday, Imelda had brought more than 43 inches of rain to Texas, the Houston Chronicle reported, and the storm caused widespread flooding, hundreds of high-water rescues and at least two deaths. A flash flood warning was in effect until 7 a.m. Friday, according to the Chronicle.
