Senior Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader and former deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar’s sudden resignation raised many questions about the communication gap within the Pawar clan.

According to the latest reports, Ajit Pawar is in no mood to reconsider his decision to say goodbye to politics.

NCP supremo Sharad Pawar reportedly spoke to his nephew Ajit last night. Ajit is in depression and now Sharad Pawar has left the decision to stay in politics up to him, sources revealed.

Sources further added that Ajit Pawar is likely to launch his statewide tour from October 1. Despite resigning, he will be present with NCP candidates at the time of filing their nominations for the Maharashtra Assembly elections.

NCP chief Sharad Pawar on Friday said that he was clueless as to why his nephew Ajit resigned as party MLA, adding that there was no feud within the family.

He, however, said Ajit Pawar’s son told him that the former Maharashtra deputy chief minister was “restless” after the Enforcement Directorate (ED) named the NCP patriarch in a money laundering case.

The ED has filed the case against Sharad Pawar, Ajit Pawar and 70 others in connection with the bank scam.

Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi also talked to Sharad Pawar for over 15 minutes on Saturday morning to express her support and sympathy. She also wanted to know about Ajit’s decision.
