Home Lymphoma Veteran Gives Back to VA Hospital

Veteran Gives Back to VA Hospital

A local veteran is holding a golf fundraiser to benefit the VA hospital he says helped save his life

Marine Corporal Dan Shephard was diagnosed with non-Hodgkins lymphoma in 2018.

He credits the medical team at the Albany Stratton VA Cancer Center and Stratton Inn for being the reason he’s in remission now.

Now Shepard is looking to give back to the VA through the second annual “All in 1 Realty Golf Outing” fundraiser at the Saratoga Lake Golf Course.

Last year the golf tournament raised $13,000. This year, they’re hoping to raise $20,000.

“The VA saved my life. I had outstanding treatment, and the care that I received at the VA was top notch,” said Shephard. “All the nurses, doctors, and staff there were kind, caring and compassionate so we just felt the need to give back to them.”

The fundraiser starts Monday, August 17 at noon. Masks, gloves and hand sanitizer will be provided.
