Oxford Immunotec, a U.K.-based global diagnostic testing company, said its T-Cell Select reagent kit has received approval from the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety.
The T-Cell select reagent kit is an immune cell isolation reagent used to automate the preparation of cells required for the company’s T-SPOT.TB, a test used to diagnose tuberculosis (TB) infection with a patient’s blood sample.
“The reagent kit simplifies the laboratory protocol of the T-SPOT.TB test,” the company said. “By easily implementing T-SPOT.TB inspection through automation, hospitals and research institutes can reduce inspection time and labor costs.”
The kit also makes it easier to integrate the T-SPOT.TB inspection into any laboratory workflow, the company added.
Oxford Immunotec explained that an additional advantage of using the T-Cell Select reagent kit is that the sample can be stored at room temperature for up to 54 hours after blood collection, making sample management easier.
“This provides flexibility in sample collection time, enabling more efficient management in the laboratory,” the company said.
Oxford Immunotec CEO Peter Wrighton-Smith also said, “T-Cell Select approval is an important step forward in simplifying the workflow for T-SPOT.TB inspection in Korea.”
This allows more labs to perform latent TB testing, and most importantly, expands the benefits of accurate latent TB testing to more patients, Wrighton-Smith added.
