Disney marked its Investor Day with a veritable slew of announcements, but among the expected news of sequels, prequels, and spin-offs came something not everyone may have seen coming.

Thanks to the Disney-Fox merger, the House of Mouse did the honors of confirming a brand new Alien TV series as part of the December 10 event, and the show is already in development at US network FX.

Following rumors of Noah Hawley‘s involvement in the project, Disney revealed that the new series will indeed be led by the Fargo and Legion creator—and they also shared news of an intriguing twist.

And that is the series, which will be based on the classic film franchise that began in the ’70s, will take place somewhere you can be heard screaming: Earth.

“Expect a scary thrill ride set not too far in the future here on Earth,” Disney announced on its Twitter feed.

That’s all we’ve got to go on for the time being, but Noah Hawley has previously hinted at what his take on the series could include. Speaking earlier this year, he admitted he’d like to “expand” the “routine” of the movies.

“If you look at what Aliens tends to be, it’s usually a trapped story – trapped in a ship, trapped in a prison, etc. And because the Alien has this life cycle to it, where it goes from egg, to chestburster, to xenomorph, there becomes a certain routine to it,” he explained.

“I thought it would be interesting if you could expand. If you’re going to make something for television, you’ve got 10 hours let’s say. Even if you have a lot of action, like two hours, then you’re still going to have eight hours left. So what is the show about?”

We guess we’ll find out soon enough.
