Hypertension: Eating more of this one type of food can help lower blood pressure

According to the American Heart Association, one should limit their sodium intake to less than 1500 mg per day to prevent hypertension. Most people excrete the extra salt and water through their urine, thus reducing salt from the diet, so it does not significantly impact the blood pressure.
