“Teen Cancer America is an incredible organization, and I’m so blessed that I was introduced to it through Harry,” Jenner said in a statement to E!. “It’s been an incredible process to see this come to life, and I send well wishes to all patients and their families.”

Jenner’s friend Hudson, 27, who is tight with other members of the Kardashian-Jenner clan and other stars such as Hailey Bieber, beat stage 3 Hodgkin lymphoma; he was diagnosed with the disease when he was 20. Hudson is dating the late tech pioneer Steve Jobs’ daughter Eve, who he went Instagram official with in January.

“I am so grateful for Kylie’s friendship and the impact she’s had on my life and my cancer journey,” Hudson said in a statement. “She has always been there for me, and together, we wanted to figure out a way to be there for other young people who are battling this disease. With the help of Teen Cancer America, we were able to contribute the first Hey, I’m Here For You Teen lounge at Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt — a comfortable space for young people undergoing treatment to pursue their passions.”

Teen Cancer America posted a special thank you message for the beauty icon. “We are excited to announce the completion of a brand new Teen Cancer Lounge at Children’s Hospital Vanderbilt made possible with the support from @KylieJenner in honor of her friend, cancer survivor, and TCA Ambassador @HarryHudsonMusic,” the post read. “Located on the 6th floor, this 540-square-foot lounge was uniquely designed by teen cancer patients for teen cancer patients, and it is outfitted with their needs and interests in mind.”

The lounge is equipped with big screens, video games and a meditation room for the more reflective patients.

The Kylie Cosmetics founder is the top earner in the Kar-Jenner fam, although Forbes denounced her 2019 “billionaire” status last year, refiguring her worth to be around $900 million.

Jenner’s family is a little complicated, hence the Keeping Up … title of their E! reality show that is finally ending this year after 20 seasons.

Understanding Lymphoma

Lymphoma is a type of blood cancer that affects white blood cells called lymphocytes, which work with your immune system to protect your body from diseases and infections. The two most common forms are Hodgkin lymphoma, like Hudson had, and non-Hodgkin lymphoma.

In a previous interview, Dr. Elise Chong from Penn Medicine explained the difference for SurvivorNet readers.

“Dr. Thomas Hodgkin was the person who founded Hodgkin lymphoma. Hodgkin is a less common type of lymphoma. We tend to see this in younger adults, as well as in older adults,” she said. “Hodgkin is characterized by Reed-Sternberg cells, which are giant cells derived from B lymphocytes, in the blood. If no Reed-Sternberg cells are detected, it’s diagnosed as non-Hodgkin.” Basically, Non-Hodgkin lymphoma is more common, but Hodgkin lymphoma is easier to cure.

Emotional Support is Vital for Cancer Patients

Hudson has been lucky to have a good group of friends supporting him along the way. For those who do not have close family or friends nearby, there are support groups out there. Talk to your doctor or social worker to find out more ways to communicate about what you are going through and remember you are not alone. There are fellow survivors, even those with your same diagnosis, who could be helping to cheer you on.

Cancer survivor Kelly Sargent credits her community in San Antonio, Texas with helping her through her journey, which she says has been life-changing.

“When I was diagnosed, as soon as I got in the hospital, I started going online to find not only information, but also support groups, stories from survivors, anything that I could find as far as my treatment I definitely looked for,” she told SurvivorNet in a previous interview. “I have met some incredible people in San Antonio. Coming here not knowing anyone, I’ve been blessed with having met some incredible ladies. I have an incredible set of friends that I met after my diagnosis through a Bible study group that have become very, very close friends of mine that are an incredible part of my support system.”
